Backes & Strauss are showcasing their new and spectacular diamond timepieces in the Harrods
Fine Jewellery and Watch Room on the Ground Floor, opposite the de Beers boutique.
The ‘Masters of Diamonds since 1789’ are offering Harrods’ clients an exclusive preview of the
watches that already charmed global watch aficionados and critics at the World Presentation of
Haute Horlogerie (WPHH) in April.
In particular two exceptional diamond creations that show off the unique expertise in diamond
cutting, polishing and setting:
The Royal Berkeley is entirely set with 330 specially cut diamonds to emulate the shape of the
watch case (87.24 carats, £764,000).
The Prince Regent features the Regent shape watch case invisibly set with 505 tapered diamonds
(20.94 carats, £235,000).
Backes & Strauss are also giving clients a taste of their new and first Limited Edition, 1609 A.D.,
to be officially launched in October 2008. This Moonphase minor complication has been
designed in commemoration of Thomas Harriot, the British Astronomer who was the first man
ever to map the moon in 1609. Limited to 219 pieces (in two sizes) and available in different
diamond combinations, it is a true collectors’ timepiece set to excite the watch adoring Harrods
clientele. (from £17,000)
