Weehawken, N.J. - Hamilton has tapped into Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford's love of action, both on the screen and when it comes to environmental issues, for its new line of "Khaki Conservation" watches.

As part of the line's debut, Hamilton is turning its efforts toward helping to protect the planet through a financial commitment to non-profit organization Conservation International, where Ford has been on the board of directors for more than 17 years.
The "Khaki Conservation" timepieces, which retail for $1,195, boast GMT functionality, with the second time zone selection covering a range of focus locations for Conservation International projects, spanning the globe from Colombia to Madagascar to Indonesia.
Ford was actively involved in the design of the watches and his signature taste for adventure is evident in the timepieces, says a press release from Hamilton.
The watch's classic black dial bears bold numbers and has inner and outer counter rings that add dynamism to the design of the face. The watches also feature fine, cutout hands and date windows, as well as studded and stitched leather straps.
The high-precision Swiss automatic GMT movement in the watches, visible through the see-through caseback, is designed to reflect the time-critical nature of worldwide efforts to preserve the planet. Decorating this "window" is Ford's engraved signature, together with the Conservation International logo.
Furthering the green theme is special packaging for the watch, composed of corrugated cardboard, which also supports the message of preserving resources by utilizing recycled materials.
Ford vividly sums up the urgency of environmental protection in his own words: "Our health relies entirely on the vitality of our fellow species on Earth. When we protect the places where the processes of life can flourish, we strengthen not only the future of medicine, agriculture and industry, but also the essential condition for peace and prosperity."
Hamilton, a 117-year-old brand that is part of the Swatch Group, was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pa., and is known for its innovative designs and watch technology. It also has a strong Hollywood presence, boasting product appearances in more than 300 movies.
